A pension that had stopped without notice
- What happened
- An elderly applicant's monthly pension stopped without any communication. Repeated visits to the sanctioning office produced verbal explanations that changed each time.
- What we did
- The desk recorded the account, established that no written order of discontinuation had been served, and helped draft an RTI application asking specifically for the order and the file noting behind it.
- What followed
- The reply confirmed there was no order of discontinuation, only an unresolved verification flag. The payment resumed with arrears once the flag was cleared through the department's own grievance route.
We filed nothing on the applicant's behalf and appeared before no one. The application and the follow-up were the applicant's.
