Disaster Relief Support
Needs-based coordination and documentation support when emergencies affect the communities we serve.
Available in: English, Telugu
ACHRC is not a relief agency and does not pretend to be one. What we can contribute in an emergency is the thing we do every other week: documentation, and knowing which office holds which mandate.
What we do
- Coordinate linkages between affected families and established relief providers
- Help households document losses in the form that entitlement claims require
- Track which authority is administering which relief measure, and pass that on accurately
- Follow up on claims that stall after the immediate crisis has passed
The last of these matters most. Attention leaves quickly; unresolved entitlement claims do not.
What we do not do
We do not run parallel distribution, appeal for goods we cannot warehouse, or deploy volunteers into situations they are not trained for. Duplicating a well-run relief operation makes it worse.
Capacity
This programme activates only where capacity permits and where a genuine gap exists. When the honest answer is that established agencies have the situation covered, we say so and direct support towards them.
Volunteers
Relief work requires prior orientation. Volunteers already registered with ACHRC are contacted first; this is not a programme suited to spontaneous participation.
