Registered objectives
The whole mandate, in one place
The following aims are drawn from the registered objects of the society. ACHRC pursues all of them in the public interest and applies its income and property solely towards their promotion.
Everything ACHRC does must trace back to one of these objects. If it does not, we should not be doing it — regardless of how worthwhile it might seem in isolation.
Object 1
Promote and protect human rights
To advance the rights guaranteed under the Constitution of India and the international instruments to which India is a party, with particular attention to communities historically denied fair treatment.
Object 2
Strengthen anti-corruption awareness
To build ethical public life and citizen participation in accountability processes, so that corruption is treated as a solvable problem rather than an inevitability.
Object 3
Provide legal aid guidance and grievance support
To offer counselling, case triage, and referral assistance to persons seeking justice, within the limits of the Council's mandate and capacity.
Object 4
Assist responsible use of the Right to Information Act
To help citizens frame lawful, specific requests, read the replies they receive, and pursue first appeals where a response is deficient.
Object 5
Conduct research, documentation, and public education
To generate evidence on governance, elections, equality, and socio-economic justice that can inform fairer policy and better public understanding.
Object 6
Organise lectures, workshops, and community programmes
To deepen democratic culture through sustained civic education rather than one-off events.
Object 7
Engage youth in leadership and peace building
To equip young people with rights frameworks, ethical organising skills, and a stake in inclusive public life.
Object 8
Undertake welfare, education, healthcare, and relief work
To respond to needs in the communities we serve — educational support, health outreach, and disaster relief — where capacity permits.
Object 9
Collaborate for reform
To work with institutions and civil society on reforms that advance dignity and the rule of law, while retaining independence of purpose.
Object 10
Operate strictly as a not-for-profit society
To apply all resources to the objects above, with no distribution of profit or private enrichment from the society's mission.
