Five things we do, and one thing we refuse to pretend
Our mission is not to change the world in a slogan. It is to do five specific things well, and to be honest about what sits outside our mandate.
ACHRC exists to advance human dignity and public accountability through rights education, legal aid guidance, RTI assistance, research, and sustained civic engagement — always within the registered objects of the society and always with our limits stated plainly.
Make rights legible
Translate constitutional guarantees into plain language a person can use when something has happened to them — in Telugu, Hindi, Urdu, and English.
Document before advising
Every matter at the legal aid desk begins with a written chronology. Advice without documentation is guesswork, and we do not guess with people's lives.
Teach transparency law to be used
RTI assistance is not about filing requests for their own sake. It is about framing lawful, specific questions that survive contact with a public authority.
Publish what can survive scrutiny
Research and field documentation are published only when the evidence supports the claim and the correction process is ready if we are wrong.
State our limits plainly
We are not a government body, hold no statutory power, and cannot guarantee representation. Saying so early is part of the mission, not an afterthought.
Boundaries
What the mission does not include
These are not disclaimers buried in fine print. They are operational rules that shape every programme.
We do not conduct investigations, direct police action, compel any authority, or guarantee court representation. We do not endorse political candidates. We do not share complainant records without consent except where the law requires it.
